Discovered in the 1970s, though hundreds of thousands of years in age, Kartchner Caverns State Park features a series of otherworldly colorful rock formations and the largest cave column in the state. Visitors can take one of the guided cavern tours, each lasting about an hour and a half, or take a hike along the trails that run over the surface of the park. Offering a small educational center and museum and overnight camping facilities, the caverns are 10 miles south of Benson, just off the highway.
Open daily 7:30 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. Call for reservations.
